Tetora Nishozono: A Summary
Just who is Tetora Nishizono?
Let's start with the technical. Tetora Nishizono is the upgraded form of Shinji Nishizono. A perfect "biological weapon", he has come closest to perfectly recreating Lucy Monostone's power. It seems his powers are all done via eye contact rather than Lucy's vocalizing method. He's capable of manipulating other peoples minds, tricking the minds of people to see reality differently and transferring himself into other peoples' bodies (to the destruction of their actual minds more often than not).
Uniquely, he can also create and edit programs within himself as if he were a computer. He even edits the control programs keeping him in check (aside from Amamiya), forcing Gakuso to use poison to keep him under control. At one point he even makes a fake version of his own program for an enemy to download, which is programmed to kill him when it's used. Because his eye is basically a mini computer that contains his entire personality, he's quick to learn anything that involves computers.
Tetora is permanently in Shinji mode. His regular personality, whatever it was, has long since ceased to be relevant. Originally Tetora was only half of the program, with Miwa Isono holding the XX half, and the original Shinji holding the control program Kazuhiko Amamiya that was needed to keep him in check and mentally stable. After Miwa steals Amamiya and gives him to Tetora along with her own program, he becomes a more stable individual. Though he despises Amamiya and represses him with drugs, he protects him both for his own sake and due to promising Miwa he'd protect him. Because Gakuso distrusts him, he's dependant on a drug to keep him alive, as they have poisoned him with something that needs regular doses of an antidote. This way they were able to keep him in check... right up until the point where they pushed him too far and he decided he was willing to die if he got to kill them first.
As a tightly controlled experimental figure, Tetora has a tracking device installed behind his heart, and is often kept in full body restraints, including a muzzle, due to his ability and willingness to outright bite off fingers and other parts if brought too close to him. However, despite this, he isn't simply a mad lunatic. He can and does kill freely, is naturally violent and ferocious, and as mentioned before thinks nothing of biting off or breaking body parts - however, he's also capable of living fairly normally.
Easily bored, crass, common, with poor fashion sense and with little concern for social norms, Tetora comes off as just a violent brat. The truth is, he's almost alarmingly sly, considerably intelligent and quite patient. He's had to be patient his whole life thanks to Gakuso's control over him. His temper can get the better of him, however, and he tends to look down on people who don't kill as well as he does. Lawless and ruthless, he tends to kill quickly and efficiently, unlike most of the other killers in the series. Of course, he also tends to go for the flashy where possible as well...
As he grows up he does develop some sense of empathy towards people he spends time with, and even manages to hold down a girlfriend and short-term friendships. He helps one of the "spares" get his revenge on his "original", helping him expose himself to radiation before trying to kill himself and the original with him. When his suicidal attempt fails, his irradiated body parts are used to replace the original's failing organs and condemn him to a slow, hellish death. He also helps to get his girlfriend out of the country, knowing he'll never see her again and teams up with the "heroes" to try to take down Wakana once and for all.
At that point in time he seems to be resigned to his own death and takes little interest in much. However, his killing instincts remain sharp and he still relishes in violence. No amount of newfound empathy will stop him from taking out anyone in his path. No amount of anger and depression will hold him back. They made a murder machine, and they thought they could control it. They were dead wrong.
Despite his small stature, Tetora is uncomfortably strong, durable, and quick. He has gone up against groups of armed and trained enemies and come out victorious, even when poorly armed. The only person to ever manage to severely injure him did so by surprising him, stabbing him once and then running off. He made the mistake of letting him live. Part of his skill is his ability to make people think that other people are him - or that he isn't himself at all. While cameras will reveal the truth, few people will be looking at a camera screen at the point where it counts. Between that and his ability to transfer into other peoples' bodies, his mindfucks could make him the perfect assassin... if he gave enough of a flying fuck to bother trying.
